Feb-13 -This is LONDON CALLING :: The Hindus are NOT Happy Well, good morning and welcome to WhisperingWord's frugal scrapings and observations on this morning's news for Sunday 13th February 2011 :: This is LONDON CALLING :: The Hindus are NOT Happy London calling is sponsored by www.whisperingword.com & http://www.66weeks.com/ The Christian Times Reports that Extremists threatened to wipe our believers in India this past weekend? Christians have good reason to fear violence while a million Hindus met for the Narmada Samajik Kumbh festival. For months leading up to this event, extremists have threatened that they will use the celebration to cleanse the state of Madhya Pradesh. "The religious extremists in Madhya Pradesh have been saying for months now that this will be the time to cleanse the state of Madhya Pradesh--as well as this particular district where this celebration is--of all Christians," says Dave Stravers with Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Mission India. "That means either a Christian must reconvert back to Hinduism, must leave, or must be killed." After a fact-finding team went out to investigate the potential for a massacre, The Christian Post confirmed, "They have solid reasons to fear an outbreak of violence against Christians during or after the event." Madhya Pradesh is part of the "Hindi Heartland" of India. Stravers says, "It's the most densely populated part of the country, and it's also the most Hindu." Christians make up for less than one percent of the state. So why would believers be seen as a big enough threat to deserve "cleansing?" "For the last several years, Madhya Pradesh has been very open to the Gospel," explains Stravers. "For the first time, in fact, in recorded history, we're seeing churches here growing rapidly, and villagers open. After hundreds of years of resistance, people are coming to Christ--villages, tribal areas, even in the big cities. And this is very threatening to the powers that be." Increased interest in the Gospel has set off alarms for religious leaders and local politicos alike. Christians have historically been overlooked in Madhya Pradesh, but the reins tightened as the movement gained speed. "The anti-conversion laws themselves are a response to the growth of the church. When the church was not growing, until about 10 years ago, no one really cared. There was pretty much a dead reaction to evangelism. But now with people being so open to the Gospel, politically there's agitation." Extremists have acted on this agitation before. Many believers have been forced to reconvert, extremists physically threatening them into compliance to pray to Hindu gods and paint traditional paint on their bodies. A new wave of violence toward believers would not be unheard of. In the past few weeks, however, festival leaders have denied that the cleansing will take place. Stravers is still concerned, though. "We know who the people are that are organizing this religious festival, and these are very active, violent, political extremist groups, who have previously repeatedly stated their intention to get rid of all Christians in India." I suppose another aspect to consider is this: A few centuries ago, the Goa Inquisition under the control of those nasty Jesuits, reeked havoc among the Hindus. Economic conversions on every social level, from rice Christians to rulers who needed the heavy-heavy colonial armed forces to keep in power, all seemed to make a mockery of conversion to Catholicism. (The Bloody fatty can have a lot to answer for in India as well you see!) The bottom line is that people do not want to lose their culture. And you know, if Christ destroys the good and the proper, the beautiful and the basics of any culture, then I wonder if more than Christ is being preached? I expect it is. Life is complicated. Is it not. Still, being a nice Christian in a multicultural society, having just come from church, where we succinctly worshipped a male deity in a very camp and feminine way, I have just finished sacrificing my guinea pig whilst gazing intently and meditating on the beauty of the Hindu goddess Jordana Silocenes Mishrah, and I am about to go eat my toasted hamster entrails on toast whilst watching the Ireland get thrashed by the French in the Sick nations tournament, so its time for me to sign off. But, ooh yes, another Christian church in our united Churches together is dying off. The Pastor is working real hard trying to keep his roof over his head, food on the table, and the small band of beleaguered believer meeting together. He looks well 'cream crackered for sure.' Still, we are all concerned and are praying for him and the flock. I am afraid we need our own money for our own programs and you know our folks, well we have a lot of overstretched people already. Still we have an old fax machine and a box of old toads with a toaster in it (needs aplug) and he's welcome to them, if he can come and pick them up. God bless him. Singg with me now "We are one in the Spirit we are one in the Lord, and we pray that our unity may one day be restored...And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love and they'll know we are Christians by our love........." Amen and thank God for job seekers allowance and housing benefit. He's gonna need it! Hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahah THANK GOD THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH IS HAVING SUCH AN IMPACT IN ENGLAND.
